كل من عليها فان و يبقى وجه ربك ذوالجلال والإكرام
Inspired by a death, I attend to write today how transitory and short this life can be. No matter how long you live, every person on the face of this world has to die one day. The death of this giant person reminded me of the Hadith which states that only two things can be everlasting and perpetual after someone dies. One well groomed and brought up children and the second one, your righteous deeds, especially those ones that are fruitful even once you die, like planting a shadowy tree.
Witnessing this towering personality die I had the feelings how helpless a man can be? You serve humanity and your entire community your whole life. But a day happens to occur in your life when God shows His supremacy and mighty hand, and reminds us that only He is immortal except him everything has to parish one day.
Therefore I mentioned the Hadith above because it is the only way taught to us by God through his messenger Holy Prophet PBUH to prolong our lives. Longing to have an everlasting life there are only two ways. Either well groomed or brought up children, or such defining deeds of piety and righteousness which will keep your name floating on the horizon of this world and your community.
Even Quran sheds some light on this very phenomenon. And admonishes us أما ما ينفع الناس فيمكث في الأرض . Whereas this verse draws a criterion for us to prolong our physical lives, on the other hand it also establishes the truth that for perpetual and long lasting life the only way is to keep on being beneficial for mankind and serve as much as you can.
Moreover it reminded me of Alexander the Great, how he pleaded his people to keep his one hand out of the grave just to remind people that after triumphing and conquering most land of the world he is leaving everything behind and departing this world "EMPTY HANDED". Although we don't have the authenticity of this story, but one thing carries logic in it, that is the truth of being "EMPTY HANDED". Moreover it also shows how much Alexander was desperate to achieve something purposeful that might have guarded him by the resentment of God and stood by his side on the Day of Judgment.
So, nevertheless, I was jolted and reminded that the only time we have to achieve something positive for our community and serve humanity, is this short and transitory life. Hence instead of wasting this precious lifetime we should be thriving and toiling hard to take this community to new horizons, and serve humanity in such a way that when we lie on our deathbed we feel contented and don't carry regrets in our hearts for our life that we may have utilized it positively.
As devine communities are led by God's Elected prophets and Caliphs,so during the entire history of Devine communities, they were never stunned, jolted and struck by grief so much except at the times of the demise of their leaders like Abraham AS, Moses AS, Jesus AS, Muhammad SAW and Promised Messiah AS, but still in such a hard time God stood beside His beloved communities and steered the ship out of the whirlpools.
So in a nutshell, if nothing changed then, when these towering personalities passed away and God didn't change His rule of non-eternal and mortal life, why would He do so for us now. He wouldn't do it now nor in future. So it is time for us to think about the grounds upon which we stand, and ponder what kind of end are we preparing for ourselves, and should never be like "LIVED IN VAIN".
